Fjord Cycling in Western Norway

Ulvik is nestled on the shores of the Hardangerfjord, offering visitors spectacular views of the deep blue waters and the surrounding mountains. This is a good place for relaxation or a day full of nature experiences.

- Bicycle tour to Osa, 20 km (round trip). 
- Relax and enjoy the village and the hotel facilities.
- Visit one or more of the three remarkable cider farms in Ulvik.
- Go by boat from Ulvik to Eidfjord, and go on a bicycle tour from there. From Eidfjord, you can also join the Vøringsfossen Sightseeing Tour to Hardangervidda Nature Centre and Vøringsfossen waterfall.
- Hike to the local drop-in cabin Solhaug with a great view of Ulvik.

From Ulvik you bike along narrow fjords, to the new and spectacular Hardangerfjord Bridge. The bridge offers an exciting trip across the fjord before continuing south to Kinsarvik.
For those in good shape, it's nice to take a detour up the Husa Valley, with magnificent waterfalls and great hiking.

Several alternative routes from Kinsarvik to Norheimsund:
- Boat from Kinsarvik to Norheimsund (or you can take the ferry to Utne and the boat from there).
- Ferry from Kinsarvik to Utne, bike to Herand (23 km), boat from Herand to Norheimsund.
- Ferry from Kinsarvik to Utne and another ferry from Utne to Kvanndal, bike from Kvanndal to Norheimsund (40 km).

Accommodation at Thon Hotel Sandven, Norheimsund.
The hotel is a venerable and soulful hotel dating back to 1857, surrounded by a historical aura. The hotel is situated in picturesque surroundings right by the edge of the fjord in the center of Norheimsund

Start by biking to Tørvikbygd, and from there; a nice ride along the fjord, to Gjermundshamn. Some minor climbs, but not much traffic.
Ferry crossing to the south side of the fjord and continue biking to the small village of Rosendal.

At the entrance of the Hardangerfjord, surrounded by majestic mountains and enriched by stunning nature.

We recommend spending some time in Rosendal and visit the Manor House from 1665, surrounded by beautiful and historic grounds, including a Renaissance rose garden.
You can also visit the Folgefonn Centre, to learn about the Folgefonna National Park, the Hardangerfjord area and the environment in general.

From Rosendal, you will see some traffic. The road runs through lush farmlands, with lovely views of the Hardangerfjord. You take the ferry across the fjord and bike towards Uggdal.

Accommodation and dinner at Haaheim Gaard.
Known for its distinctive and personal atmosphere, Haaheim Gaard is a great place to spend the night. Growing their own herbs and vegetables in the garden, they will serve you a tasty meal based on local produce and seasonal ingredients.

We highly recommend biking a detour, via the beautiful village Onarhamn, towards Hodnanes. You then take the ferry across to Stord, and to Leirvik. Leirvik is a small city on the island of Stord, with a nice city centre and harbour.

Accommodation and dinner at Stord Hotell. Free access to the hotels new wellness area with a pool and sauna.

Bike from Leirvik via Fitjar to Sandvikvåg. Ferry to Husavik, and then a short bicycle tour to Bekkjarvik. This stage follows the signposts of the North Sea Route, which runs from Egersund to Bergen. Signposts only to Sandvikvåg. Some uphill from Leirvik to Sagvåg, then easy cycling through a lush cultural landscape.

Bekkjarvik is an old trading station packed with coastal culture and with a fishery museum at Bekkjarvik Square. Be ready for yet another fantastic food experience at Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri.

We recommend spending some time in Austevoll before you leave for Bergen. You find several nice detours along the way to Hufthamar.
The Express boat to Bergen departs from Hufthamar at 15:05 and arrive in Bergen at 15:55.
